About Me

Hey, there! My name is Lauren and I live in rainy Seattle foggy San Francisco with my sweet rescue dog. I’m an easily entertained twenty-something thirty-something who loves cooking, eating, and exploring all of the sights, sounds, and tastes that this city has to offer.

I don’t consider myself a foodie. I actually despise that word! It sounds alienating and pretentious, and conjures up images of stuffy tableside service and expensive caviar. Don’t get me wrong—I love food. I love cooking it, eating it, playing with it, and learning about where it comes from. But I believe that food should be simple, seasonal, and most importantly, accessible. You don’t need to be any type of expert to appreciate a good meal.

Food has always played a big role in my life, and this blog is a place where I can share my experiences and kitchen adventures with others. My cooking philosophy is simple. Use unfussy, fresh ingredients to produce meals that are delicious and comforting. Take the time to go through the motions of preparing a dish, even if it’s readily available at the grocery store. Finally, I believe that food is always meant to be shared.

Some of the recipes on this blog are mine, but many of them are curated and adapted from other sources. In my opinion, recipes are just ever-evolving formulas of ingredients. Altered, refined, and recycled time after time. I like to believe that we are all connected in some way by food in this sense. As much as we like to think we “own” recipes and dishes, we’re really all using the same darn ingredients, just in different ways. And that’s the real beauty of food.
